At the start of this week, Oneida Nation announced that it has some exciting plans in store for its Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York State. The tribe shared that it intends to make some upgrades to its flagship property, such as doubling the convention and meeting space. According to the tribe, this would be the most significant expansion in the last 20 years.
Turning Stone Resort Casino is one of the preferred gaming locations for gamblers in New York and is located at 5218 Patrick Rd, Verona, NY. It is one of the four Indian gambling establishments owned and governed by the tribe, along with Yellow Brick Road Casino and Sports Book, the Point Place Casino and The Lake House at Sylvan Beach.
Multi-Million Plan in Store
In a Tuesday press release, Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO, commented that this will be the casino’s largest expansion in the last two decades. He belies that with the reinvestment the casino sets sail on a new chapter of its operations, and it will help it remain one of the top gaming and tourism resorts in the state.
Mr. Halbritter also explained that currently, the resort experiences record demand for hosting conferences and other events, which outpaces its current hotel and convention amenities. In his words, the multi-million expansion would help the resort meet its rising demand in the future. He also noted that the company’s 30-year track record has proven that such investments are vital for sustaining business.
According to the press release from the tribe, the multi-year project includes a brand-new hotel tower, which when completed will come with over 250 rooms for guests. In addition to that, there will be more dining amenities, more outdoor spaces and other facilities. And the official groundbreaking should start off sometime in 2023, said the management.
Offerings Stable Jobs and Affordable Housing
At the start of August, Turning Stone Resort Casino announced that it was looking to add staff members to its team in Western New York. Some available positions were cooks, chefs, table game dealers and other hospitality workers. It also offered affordable subsidized housing to its new employees at the new positions, thus earning an advantage in the competition for employees.
Housing has been made available at the company’s new apartment complex “The Villages at Stoney Creek” which is the first-ever employee community facility in the state. It touts over 50 apartments which will be available to new hourly staff members. Each home will be coming with in-unit laundry, parking, utilities, and shuttle service to the casino.
Recognized in Annual Awards
To say that Turning Stone Resort Casino is one of the premium gaming establishments in New York is an understatement. The resort has been acknowledged for its premium amenities by the gaming industry in the 2021 Gaming Awards by Casino Player Magazine, as it won an amazing amount of 24 honours out of which 14 were first place ones.
